The documentary film archive offers visitors of the Centre a representative selection of outstanding and diverse non-fiction films dating from as early as 1896 to the present.

The Centre is the first of its kind in Europe that provides public viewing access to such a comprehensive collection of international documentary films.

The archive’s 7000 titles of film and television documentaries include a variety of documentary film styles and themes ranging from the classics of documentary film history to recent television productions.

The Centre conceives the term “documentary” quite broadly and its archive includes industrial, educational and cultural films, as well as artistic auteur movies and television productions such as features, reports and docu-soaps. Furthermore, the collection also comprises experimental documentaries, as well as award-winning documentary films and features.
