Starting in 2005, Dokville is the annual conference of the documentary film industry in Germany and was conceived and organized by the Documentary Film Centre. The conference takes place in the city of Ludwigsburg.

Dokville has become an information platform for the industry and is an opportunity to meet and exchange ideas outside of the established documentary film festivals. In 2005, the conference’s foci were TV timeslots for documentaries and HDTV production. In 2006 the topics were copyright law and clearances.

Dokville is an excellent occasion for the documentary film industry to come together for two days to keep abreast of current developments.
The proceedings of each conference are published in autumn of the following year.

Every second year during the Dokville conference, the Baden-Württembergische Dokumentarfilmpreis is awarded. The award of 20.000€ is funded by SWR (Southwest German Public TV) and MFG Film Fund. Along with this prize, the Documentary Film Centre awards a grant of 3000€.

Dokville is supported by MFG, the city of Ludwigsburg, Film & Medien Festival GmbH and Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
